Abira Nowar
Doctoral Student
Abira is a doctoral student in the Department of Nutrition at UNC-Chapel Hill. She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. Her research interests focus on the relationship between nutrition and health, with a particular interest in understanding how dietary factors can influence health outcomes and overall well-being. She was a former research officer at the National Heart Foundation in Bangladesh. Apart from research, she also has teaching experience of more than three years. Abira loves to work in under developed communities and wants to develop nutrition interventions that influences the healthy eating patterns of the children and adolescents.
My go-to comfort food is… rice, lentils, and mashed potatoes. In Bengali we call it bhaat, dal, and alu bhorta
My family’s holiday favorite is… Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh
My most interesting food habit is… I eat the patties and buns seperately on a burger!
