Jonathan Lara-Arévalo
Doctoral student
Jonathan is a doctoral student in the Department of Nutrition at UNC-Chapel Hill. As a Fulbright Scholar, he obtained a Master of Public Health in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Washington. With over five years of experience, he has worked extensively in developing, implementing, and evaluating health and nutrition programs across international organizations such as the World Food Program, the Pan American Health Organization, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. Jonathan’s current research focuses on the design of food assistance programs, the affordability of healthy foods, and the impact of climate change on food systems in low- and middle-income countries.
The first thing I learned to cook was… scrambled eggs.
My favorite combination of food and drink is… a peanut butter banana sandwich with a glass of milk.
My favorite beverage is… Honduran coffee!
