Lasya Nerayanuri

Undergraduate research assistant

Lasya is a second-year undergraduate planning to double major in nutrition and Spanish for medical professions. She is interested in how nutrition research translates into food guidelines and how lived environments shape health outcomes. Outside of classes, she helps research the impact of omega-3s on inflammation, teaches nutrition lessons at local elementary schools, and volunteers rounding on Spanish-speaking patients at UNC hospitals. She is excited to be working with GFRP, studying food labeling policies and sustainability claims in Latin America.

My “go-to” comfort food is… my mom’s green mango dal with rice (it’s like a tangy lentil stew!).
Foods I must have in my home are… peanut butter, peanuts, and peanut M&Ms.
My favorite food quote is… “Om nom nom nom.” — Cookie Monster
