Mary Madelyn Hart
Graduate research assistant
Mary Madelyn Hart is an MPH-RD graduate completing her dietetic internship as a research assistant with the Global Food Research Program. Her research interests focus on nutrition’s role in noncommunicable disease and the ways social determinants of health, including food insecurity, multimorbidity, and experiences of social stigmatization, influence diet quality, cardiometabolic health, and disease outcomes for adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. While working with GFRP, Maddie is supporting research that examines food additives in sodium-reduced food products and evaluates Colombia’s front-of-package labeling system and accompanying tax policies. She is broadly interested in translating nutrition research into equitable, evidence-based public health and clinical practice guidelines.
